The image on our home page is New York’s High Line. For those of you that don’t know it, the High Line is a beautiful and unlikely park on the path of a disused elevated freight railspur running for a mile and a half through the the city down to the docks. I walked it, with my wife and daughter a couple of months back, on a crystal clear autumn day.
The line is planted like a country walk winding through and connecting with the urban landscape. Thirty feet above the ground, scattered with public art and small gathering spaces, it has created something that is true to all of its elements, but new and surprising – and somehow a whole lot more than the sum of its parts.
It seems like a good place to start.
